On Friday, April 18, former La Canada High School standout Adam Geller’s current college team, the Emory Eagles, won 10-5 in their NCAA Division III baseball game against the Chicago Maroons.
The game took place at Chappell Park. This was their first matchup against the Maroons this season.
The Eagles’ next game is scheduled for Saturday, April 19 at 12 p.m. at Chappell Park against Chicago Maroons.
In January 2025, Mecklenburg County Magistrate Teresa Stokes signed the release of DeCarlos Brown Jr., a repeat arrestee later accused of fatally stabbing Iryna Zarutska on Charlotte’s light-rail.
Mecklenburg County received $3.3 million from a Chicago-based political foundation after leaders agreed to “reduce the use of incarceration” for repeat criminals like DeCarlos Brown, Jr.
The upcoming week starting Monday, Sept. 8 will feature these former Verdugos area high school athletes.
